As the 2018/19 season winds down to a close, all eyes are now on the next bid competition...
The transfer market. Aaron Ramsey has already bid farewell to Arsenal as he hopes to make a name for himself in Turin with the Italian giants, Juventus. Barcelona have picked-up a great new young midfielder in the form of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax. Even Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly begun making moves for players such as Ander Herrera who revealed he would be leaving Manchester United. Other players who have suggested that they would be leaving their current employers are striker's Paulo Dybala and Antoine Griezmann. Even the veteran Daniele De Rossi has said goodbye to Roma after 18 years at the club and Iker Casillas is reportedly about to hang up his gloves due to health reasons.
As such this transfer window looks like it will cause a reshuffle of many high profile players and there will be much debate regarding which club made the best signings. There has also been the emergence of some great young talent this season who could also be targeted.
Here is a look at our list of the top players that should be on signed in the summer:
Matthijs de Ligt, 19-year-old Dutch international
The youngest player to have captained a side in a Champions League semi-final, Matthijs de Ligt has the makings of a world class centre-back who can rival the greats such as Fabio Cannavaro or Mattias Sommer. Any club that manages to sign the defender will have the advantage of knowing that this is a player with character. He has bounced back from rocky international matches and has found his confidence. The Dutchman has certainly shown that he can keep a cool head even against Juventus and Real Madrid. Rio Ferdinand believes that Manchester United ought to have him on their wish-list but as his side looks like they are en-route for the final of the Champions League, it will be very difficult
for any team to get their hands on this brilliant tackler of the ball.
Nicolas Pepe, 23-year-old Ivorian International
With alleged interest from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, Nicolas Pepe may make a move from current club Lille. Pepe aided the Ligue 1 side in their bid to qualify for a spot in the Champions League by scoring 20 goals and adding 11 assists to his name. His speed and agility would be much sort after, especially in the Premier League where the competition for the top spots came down to the wire. Former United boss Jose Mourinho believes that Pepe is a "quality player in the making"
Nicolo Zaniolo, 19-year old Italian International
Roma would not want to lose their prodigy midfielder, but his undeniable talent makes him a player that clubs would sort after, reportedly clubs such as Bayern Munich. He has only found the back of the net four times this season and registered two assists but his technical ability in the middle of the park has led to him being compared to talisman Francesco Totti. James Rodriguez' future at Bayern appears to be uncertain which would create an opening for a clever passer of the ball which Zaniolo has proven to be for since his move from Inter Milan to Roma.
Other players who look like value for money include Federico Chiesa of Fiorentina, Houssem Aouar who plays for Lyon and Benefica's Joao Felix who has been hailed as the "next Cristiano Ronaldo". As the transfer markets open for business, it is only a matter of time before the swaps begin and with the leagues becoming more competitive, it is conceivable that we can expect an entertaining summer transfer window.
