With the Premier League deadline coming to a close a lot sooner than what English football clubs have been accustomed to, the transfer news drama was on a high.
Probably the biggest shocker was the move by the Brazilian David Luiz from Chelsea to London rivals Arsenal on a two-year deal for a sum of just £8m . It however can be argued that Arsenal’s purchase of fullback, Kieran Tierney for £25m, was their best signing as the 22-year-old defender has shown great potential at his former club Celtic and could be quite instrumental for the gunners this season. Alex Iwobi's late move from Arsenal to Everton provided the last minute action of the day, as the Merseyside club submitted a deal sheet to sign the Midfielder for £35m before the close of the transfer window.
Tottenham scored the best loan deal of the day after coming to an agreement with Real Betis for midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. Spurs also completed the signing of Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham for a fee of £30m.
The heart-warming news of the day belongs to Andy Carroll as he made a deadline day return to boyhood club Newcastle United as a free agent. Carroll left the Magpies eight and a half years ago but says that he always envisioned that he would make a return to St James' Park. Manchester United earn best sale of the day, with Romelu Lukaku departing Old Trafford for a fee of £77m to join Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
